Effect of Hf as oxygen vacancy formation inhibitor on the oxidation behavior of Ni-28 W alloy

摘要
The oxidation behavior of Ni-28 W alloy with Hf doping at 700 degrees C, 775 degrees C and 850 degrees C was investigated. Hf doping significantly reduces the oxidation rate of alloys and decreases the thickness of the internal oxide scales, except the outer NiO ones. Hf is preferentially solid-soluted in the internal oxide (NiWO4) layer and occupies the position of Ni2+ by Hf4+, hindering the formation of oxygen vacancies. The lower oxygen pressure in the inner oxide layer of the alloy with Hf doping leads to the formation of inner tungsten oxide WOn (n = 2-3).
