Low temperature synthesis of oxyfluoride CsTi2O2.85F3.15 from a layered oxide Cs0.68Ti1.83O4

摘要
We report the successful synthesis of pyrochlore-type oxyfluoride CsTi2O2.85F3.15 at a low temperature from layered oxide Cs0.68Ti1.83O4 under non-topochemical reactions. Rietveld analysis, XPS, and SEM-EDS confirmed the oxyfluoride composition of CsTi2O2.85F3.15 with a mixed metal valence of Ti3+ and Ti4+. In the presence of Cs2CO3, the synthetic temperature of CsTi2O2.85F3.15 can be as low as 400 degrees C. The in-situ XRD analysis shows that a metal fluoride Cs2TiF6 is the intermediate phase in the formation of oxyfluoride CsTi2O2.85F3.15. TGA analysis shows the oxyfluoride can be stable at approximately 650 degrees C, indicating high potential applications in various areas. This work shed a new light on the future low-temperature synthesis of novel oxyfluorides using layered oxide precursors.
